Mike Carragino

My dedication to a fitness lifestyle began a young age playing football, wrestling/ doing jiu jitsu, and striking classes.  Football and my love for martial arts lead to my love for the gym as I realized in high school that consistent weight lifting and proper nutrition lead to enhancement in all areas of my life. My chiropractor and personal trainer at the time asked me to work for him as I was so fascinated by everything related to sports and fitness when he was training me as an athlete. I worked as a personal trainer in high school training  youth sports teams at his sports performance facility. My love for exercise and sports continued as I studied exercise science at Slippery Rock University. It was here that I focused all of my time on learning as much as I could about nutrition, how to weight train, and how to recover properly. I competed in the college bodybuilding competition  at SRU and came in third place. It was a fun bucket list item to challenge myself as I applied my studies into my own science experiment to get as shredded as possible.  I learned a lot about sports specific training  working as a strength coach intern for the slippery rock football team for 1.5 years. From then on I’ve become obsessed with improving my health everyday. I really enjoy the rehabilitation side of things which lead to studying my master’s degree at Gannon University. I am an occupational therapist by trade and work full time in the medical field, but my true passion is for health and fitness on a coaching 1-1 basis. I have weight trained and done cardio consistently my entire life.  The last 7 years of studying I’ve learned how critical proper nutrition is and the impact it has on all areas of health. In order to reap the benefits of a proper training sessions, the body must be fueled and rested appropriately. I have become a lifelong learner to help others and myself feel and look their best. I fell in love with the rush of endorphins and the confidence you feel from putting yourself through a tough training session while overcoming the demons in your head telling you to give up. Consistency in the gym combined with proper nutrition, rest and recovery, you can maximize all areas of your life and reach your desired goals .Take back your health that for so long you have been told this is part of the aging process, bad genes, family history, ect. Make the commitment to working with a coach/rehab therapist well versed in many areas of health and wellness to help you take back your health and reach your full potential.
